ESL Classes

Class subjects include Grammar, Pronunciation, Reading Comprehension, Academic Writing and TOEFL preparation. There are also weekly field trips to local attractions.

Accomodations

Do Host Family International Homestay provides you with a home away from home.

Each student will be provided with a private bedroom during their homestay.

UNC-Wilmington

Do Host Family International Homestay works with our local university, The University of North Carolina - Wilmington (UNCW), and their English as a Second Language Program. This 5-week ESL Program is an intensive academic English program designed for English language learners at a high-beginner to advanced level of language proficiency. Conversation Partners

During your stay you will be matched with a "Conversation Partner" from our local university. Conversation Partners are college students who will meet with you several times a week to help you with your speaking skills, as well as introduce you to American culture and college life.

UNCW ESL Program

The English as a Second Language Program at UNCW is an intensive academic program designed for English language learners at a high-beginner to advanced level of language proficiency. Students receive 20 hours of language instruction per week, and have a choice to study for five weeks, eight weeks, or the full semester. On-campus housing is only available for full-semester students, so homestay is an ideal option for students in the shorter programs. UNCW ESL Program works closely with Do Host Family International Homestay, LLC, a homestay organization that provides homestay placements and management services. Host families provide airport pickup and drop-off, a private room for the student, transportation to and from school, and breakfast and dinner each day.

We currently serve the Wilmington, NC area. Wilmington is located along the southeastern coast of North Carolina between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. It is home to UNC-Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College. We have several area beaches, a State Park and a vibrant downtown and riverfront to explore. Local activities include shopping, boating, surfing, kayaking, hiking, bicycling, nature trails, outdoor concerts and local festivals.
